Bean Bush Calypso Organic HEIRLOOM Seeds

Bean Bush Calypso Organic HEIRLOOM Seeds

Phaseolis vulgaris

Item #3145

70-90 days. Whether you call them Calypso, the Yin Yang bean because of its unique design or the orca bean because it looks like a tiny killer whale, this unusual dry bean is pretty and delicious. Each bean has black and white markings with a contrasting dot. Cooked beans have a smooth texture and mild flavor that takes on the flavors in your favorite soup or stew. Each pod produces 4-5 seeds.

This packet sows one 8-foot row.

When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after average last frost and when soil temperatures have warmed.

Special germination instructions: Beans germinate best in warm soil.

Harvesting: Dry beans are left on the plant until the pod and beans inside are completely dry. If short seasons prevent drying plants in the ground before frost, pull entire plant with mature pods before frost and hang in a warm, dry place until pods are brittle; break open pods and remove seeds.
