Perennial to USDA zone 3. Blooms in summer for 30-60 days. Sun or light shade. 1'-2' tall. Long 2"-3" drooping pink petals surrounding a purple/maroon/brown conical center. This more potent narrow leaf species of Coneflower is used for its medicinal value, but it is also quite striking in the garden. An easy to care for North American native wildflower, it grows well in a variety of conditions. Excellent in borders and a great cut flower.

When to start outside: Sow in early spring, 3-4 weeks before average last frost. Can plant as late as 2 months before first fall frost.

When to start inside: Sow 6 weeks before average last frost. (May bloom 1st year if started indoors.)
