Perennial in USDA zones 3-8. Blooms in summer. 12"-18" mounding clumps. Full sun or light shade (preferred in hot summer climates). Billowing heads of soft yellow green star-shaped flowers are highly prized as a long lasting cut and dried flower. Just as famous for its soft, light green, fuzzy leaves that hold droplets of dew that glisten like diamonds in the morning sun! May reseed in ideal conditions. If this is not desirable, cut back flowers regularly. The name, Lady's Mantle originated in the Middle Ages and comes from its association with the Virgin Mary and its scalloped mantle-shaped leaves. Also called, Lion's Foot. It's botanical name, Alchemilla is related to Alchemy, as it was deemed a magical plant.
When to plant outside: Sow in spring 2 weeks before average last frost or in late summer to early fall, at least 2 months before first fall frost.

When to start inside: Sow 6-8 weeks before last average day of frost. Germinates best when temperatures are 60-70 degrees F. Sow very shallow 1/8.
