Majestic, multi-branched plants provide gorgeous cut flowers throughout summer. Easy to grow in almost any well-drained soil, and drought tolerant. In areas with a long growing season, sow a new crop every 2–4 weeks up until 3 months before first fall frost for continuous bloom. Due to its intense bee attraction, 'Lemon Queen' is the sunflower used in the Great Sunflower Project, a study to gather information about native bee populations. Sunflowers are edible, with a bittersweet flavor. The petals add a pretty pop of color ion salads and desserts. The young, sunflower buds are edible, with a flavor similar to artichoke hearts. They can be grilled, marinated, or sauteed for an unusual appetizer or side dish.

Tall and Bright

After a mediocre performance last year, I gave these another try--this time in all-day sun. What a difference it made! Lemon Queen has grown eight feet tall and started blooming August 1 with pure yellow blooms that grow larger after opening. They've been very easy to grow and free of pests. My reason for only four stars is that, like most annuals, these do not look good after frost and have to be cleared away.

I bought these seeds based on their description as attractive to bees and they did not disappoint! So many blooms and the bees were there for them every day. An integral part of a bee garden. I even brought the seeds to work to plant in front of the building and my boss and I enjoyed watching them bloom all summer.

Hardy and great color

When the plants got to be around 10" tall, some animal chewed them half way down. All that was left were some thin, scrawny sticks. I thought I had lost them. But, they persevered and are blooming like crazy. The flowers are a beautiful yellow, well developed and have nice dark brown centers. I plan on growing these next year.

These were lovely sunflowers that had multiple bloom heads and blossomed mid to late summer last year in my garden. I saw yellow finches grazing happily and tons of bees. I had so many seeds I gave them as gifts to friends who now have gorgeous sunflowers this summer. I will definitely buy and plant them again.

vWere duds this year--only a few germinated, and they only got about 8" tall. This is okay. It's a pandemic year. I'll order them again.

I've grown mammoth sunflowers before, so I didn't know quite what to expect from a smaller variety--I've loved them though. I grew Snacker Sunflowers next to them, and these Lemon Queen's grew faster, had more leaves, and grew taller than them. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I would definitely recommend these seeds, so easy to grow, germination is uncomplicated and hard to mess up. If you're new to gardening, I'd suggest sunflowers to grow. Love them. Am definitely going to buy again.
