When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED. 2 to 4 weeks before average last frost, and when soil temperature is 60°-70°F. Successive Sowings: Every 3 weeks until 2 weeks before the first fall frost. If using winter row covers, you can extend your season 2 to 4 weeks after first fall frost. In USDA zone 8 or warmer, also sow in fall for winter harvest. In summer's heat, grow in the afternoon shade of other crops.

When to start inside: Any time for fresh mesclun year-round! Grow on a sunny windowsill or under grow lights.

Harvesting: Harvest individual leaves at 2" - 4" tall for a continual supply. If you wish to harvest as heads, cut off at 2" above ground level as soon as possible after head forms; new leaves will grow from the center. The earlier the harvest, the more tender the crop.
