74 days. Hard to find and uniquely red throughout, this is an extraordinary, garnet-colored lettuce. The crinkled leaves are red right to the center of the 10"–12" plant. Grow it as an ornamental as well as for its delicious flavor. Good container variety. Slow to bolt.

This packet sows up to 188 ft.

Days to Emerge:
5-10 days

Seed Depth:
Surface to 1/8"

Seed Spacing:
A group of 3 seeds every 8" - 10"

Row Spacing:
12"

Thinning:
When 1/2" tall, thin to 1 every 8" - 10"

When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED. 2 to 4 weeks before average last frost and when soil temperature is at least 40°F, ideally 60°–70°F. Successive Sowings: Every 3 weeks until 2 weeks before the first fall frost. Mild Climates: Sow in fall for cool season harvest.

When to start inside: 4 to 6 weeks before average last frost, and in summer when soil temperatures are too warm (above 80°F) to germinate lettuce seed.

Special germination instructions: Soil temperatures over 80ºF greatly reduce the germination rate. In hot summer areas, start successions indoors; outdoors use a shade cloth to cool soil. Light aids germination; sow shallowly.

Harvesting: Harvest mature plants by cutting off at ground level. If regrowth is desired, cut the leaves higher, at 2". For a continual supply, outer, individual leaves can be harvested at any time, but leave at least half of the plant for regrowth.
