Tomato Cherry Red & Yellow Pear Blend Organic HEIRLOOM Seeds

Solanum lycopersicum

Item #3137

75 days from transplanting. Indeterminate.
This heirloom blend brings you both red and yellow, very attractive fruit that can be eaten like grapes. Sweet, mild flavor and low acidity make these tomatoes great for hors d’oeuvres, salads, and relishes. Productive plants produce clusters of fruit all summer long. Cherry Red Pear seeds are dyed red, while the Yellow Pear seeds remain natural so you know which color tomato you are sowing. Vigorous vines easily reach 6'.

This packet yields approximately 24 plants when started indoors.

When to sow outside: For mild climates only: 1 to 2 weeks before average last frost, and when soil temperature is at least 60°F.

When to start inside: RECOMMENDED. 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting. Transplant when air temperature is 45°F or warmer, usually 1 to 2 weeks after the last average frost date. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 70°‒90°F.

Harvesting: "Red & Yellow Pear Blend tomatoes are at the peak of sun-ripened deliciousness when red or yellow, and have a slight give when gently squeezed. Tomatoes may also be picked at the “first blush” stage, when colors just begin to change, and ripened at room temperature without decreasing flavor or nutrition. Picking often and early increases yield, and decreases the risk of cracking and pest damage.

At the end of the season, about 1 month before the average first fall frost, clip all blossoms and any undersized fruit off the plant. This will steer all the plant’s remaining energy into ripening what’s left. If you have a lot of unripe tomatoes near the end of the season and a frost is approaching, pick them and store them indoors in a single layer away from direct sunlight to ripen.
