Eggplant Listada de Gandia Organic HEIRLOOM Seeds

Solanum melongena

Item #3154

80 days from transplant. The Listada de Gandia eggplant, a French heirloom variety, produces plentiful 6”-8” attractive oval fruits on plants that thrive in heat. You’ll love its thin-skinned fruits that do not require peeling. Eggplants are often grown as ornamental vegetables. Their starry, violet flowers and attractive fruits make them beautiful additions to your flower garden as well as edible treats!

This packet yields approximately 20 plants when started indoors.

Row Spacing:
18"

Thinning:
Start indoors; plant 18" apart outside

When to sow outside: 2 to 4 weeks after average last frost and when soil temperatures are warm, and when outside nighttime temperatures are at least 55°F.

When to start inside: RECOMMENDED. 10 to 12 weeks before average last frost. Transplant seedlings outside 1 to 2 weeks after last frost.

Harvesting: Listada de Gandia should be harvested when the fruit is 6”-8” long and the skin is still shiny. If you are in doubt about maturity level, note that it’s better to harvest eggplants a little young rather than wait until they are overly mature with dull skin, plentiful dark seeds, and bitter taste. To harvest, cut woody stem with pruners. Continual harvest will encourage more production.
