Showcase the relaxing aroma and color of lavender year-round with rustic and chic lavender wreath. We used a grapevine base, but you can use any base of choice. The length of the stems is also up to you! We liked ours for a sweeping look, but shorter stems will give a denser, more contained look. Be creative and make it your own!
Supplies:
- Dried lavender stems (we used three 2" wide bundles, about 400 stems)
- 15" grapevine wreath
- Florist wire or other pliable wire
- Ribbon (optional)
Instructions:
- You can harvest your lavender at any time, but its fragrance is at its peak when flower buds have formed but not opened. Keep the stems as long as possible.
- Tie stems in bunches, leaving a long tail of string so you can hang them upside down in a dark, cool, area (or an area out of direct sunlight). Your lavender is fully dry when stems snap rather than bend; this can take 2-4 weeks depending on conditions.
- We left our stems around 9" long, which leaves a good amount of the green stem exposed for color contrast.
- Tuck small bundles of stems (around 15) into the vines to secure them. If you are using a metal hoop wreath or a similar base, use wire to secure the stems.
- Overlap your small bundles to cover stems to make the design full.
- Add any other dried flowers or ribbon you like. Our ribbon was wired, which helps bows stay stable.
- When finished attaching lavender to your wreath, take a look at it and decide where the top is. Using wire, create a loop on the back of your wreath at the top for hanging.
- Hang your wreath and enjoy! You can always refresh the scent with lavender essential oil if you find it fades. Your wreath will hold its color and scent best when displayed out of direct sunlight.
