Rouge Royale Sunflower Seeds

Helianthus annuus (hybrid)

'Rouge Royale' is a stunning, true red sunflower, on multi-branching plants. A dramatic accent in beds, borders, and arrangements. For highest quality cut flowers, planting closer together will produce longer stems and smaller flowers. For long-lasting vase life, cut before flower is completely open. 'Rouge Royale' doesn't drop its pollen making it all beauty and no mess. Sunflowers are edible, with a bittersweet flavor. The petals add a pretty pop of color ion salads and desserts. The young, sunflower buds are edible, with a flavor similar to artichoke hearts. They can be grilled, marinated, or sautéed for an unusual appetizer or side dish. Drought tolerant once established.

    So pretty 🤩

These were gorgeous! I mixed these in with some other sunflower varieties and put them around our chicken coop to give the girls some shade.. and a snack when they go to seed. I almost missed them when they were first in bloom because they were so dark! Will play again!

    The best sunflowers

I have never seen such beautiful, fast growing sunflowers. Took 2 months from seed to bloom, and every seed germinated. Plants are 6-7 feet tall with at least 10 blooms per plant, and more come after previous flowers are cut. Will plant these again and again!

    Mine are black.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for these to open! First bloom finally happened this morning. It’s definitely not “true red” —it’s black. Giving two stars because the seeds all germinated and the plants are six feet tall.

    Hey Lainie,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. A flower might not bloom in the color you were expecting for several natural reasons, and it doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong. Soil conditions can play a role; certain flowers, like hydrangeas, change color based on soil pH and mineral content. Weather and temperature fluctuations, such as heatwaves or cold snaps, can impact pigment development and lead to muted or altered flower colors. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to ensuring your experience is positive. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service team with any questions. Thank you once again for your input. Keep on growing 🌻️

I have great success with most of the seed I have gotten from botanical interest. These sunflowers are no exception. However, my flower seems to be much darker. I don't know if something is off in the soil (like hydrangeas need acidic for purple and pinks) or if it will redden as it grows. 🤔 I am container gardening them and wish I had put them in a bigger grow bag. But that was my mistake.
