While our size estimates are based on typical growing conditions, nasturtiums can definitely exceed expectations when they're really happy with their environment. Factors like soil richness, sunlight, water, and even temperature can all contribute to more vigorous growth than anticipated.

Placed 4 of them in a container with Alyssum for a Christmas display in my garden. They covered the 3 foot container on all sides plus I ran it up the back wall. Yes, AMAZING. The 4 star rating is due to the color which was more orange than a deep, dark black. Some of the flowers were darker but none were what I was hoping for.

I really appreciate your honest feedback about the color variation. Nasturtium colors can sometimes lean more toward the orange spectrum depending on soil conditions, pH levels, and growing environment, even with varieties bred for darker tones. It sounds like you did get some of those deeper, darker blooms mixed in, which shows the genetic potential is there.
The fact that they performed so beautifully in terms of growth and coverage while paired with Alyssum must have created a gorgeous display, even if the color wasn't exactly what you were envisioning. That kind of cascading effect you described sounds really impressive!
