Low Germination, Unique Flowers if you get them

I did side-by-side comparisons of Alaska, Empress of India, and Butterscotch Nasturtiums. The Butterscotch had extremely low germination rates - 20% or less. The other nasturtium varieties had around 80% germination. It's often annoying to germinate nasturtium in the desert, but I think only one plant made it to flowering this year.

    Hey Becky,

Thank you for sharing your experience! Quality is very important to us, that's why we frequently send our seed to a third-party laboratory to ensure germination rates exceed federal, and our own, standards. We don’t sell seeds that don’t pass those tests — plain and simple. That said, we also know that germination can be a bit finicky, and 9 times out of 10, the issue ends up being something environmental — like inconsistent moisture, temperature swings, or even the depth the seeds are sown.

Out of the entire packet, not a single one germinated

Unfortunately, not a single seed from this variety germinated. All my other nasturtium varieties germinated and bloomed. I can't say its user error because I've grown nasturtium for years and have had success with all varieties. This was my first time growing Butterscotch and I believe I may have received faulty seeds. I won't be purchasing this variety again unfortunately. Really disappointed.

Only sporadic germination. Did not flourish even with feeding and watering.
