Daucus carota

Dara' adds a soft, airy, elegance to the garden and fresh or dried flower arrangements. It is also called ornamental carrot or false Queen Anne's lace. Planting Details

Seed Depth Surface to ⅛"
Seed Spacing A group of 3 seeds every 12"–18"
Thinning When 2" tall, thin to 1 every 12"–18"
Germination 7–21 days
Start Indoors 4 to 6 weeks before your average last frost date. Roots are sensitive to disturbance; sow in biodegradable pots and transplant before the taproot becomes crowded.
Direct Sow RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks before your average last frost date. Successive Sowings: Every 2 to 3 weeks for continuous bloom.
Special Care May need staking in exposed, windy areas. Deadheading (removing spent blooms and their stalks) prolongs flowering and prevents reseeding.
Growing & Harvesting For longest vase-life, harvest flowers when they are fully opened and lay flat.

These seeds were for my friend. The real test is if they are viable in the spring.

This beauty is worth the effort to grow. First time grower of this flower. It took a long while to get established after transplant but what a magnificent outcome. I am growing it in an established shallow raised bed and it is very happy in that spot. The number of beneficial insects like hover flies, tiny bees, butterflies, honey bees and lady bugs galore. If you're on the fence on this one, give it an opportunity. It'll work wonders to help establish a beneficial eco-system within your grow area! Give it a go by planting directly in groubd/raised bed, or, transplant the entire starter in a compostable pot to minimize transplant shock or damage to its initially delicate tap root.
