Gherkins are tiny cucumbers used for pickles, and these are the best; seedless, bitter-free, and uniform in shape. Use as small as 1½" long, or up to 4" for making excellent sweet pickles, French cornichons ("little horns"), or for fresh use. Plants are vining at up to 72"; grow against a trellis or fence for support.

Harvesting: Pick, and pick some more! Overly mature cucumbers on the vine will slow production of new cucumbers. Cut the stem rather than pulling at the fruit, as stems are fragile. To increase the quality and storage time, once picked, immediately immerse in cold water to disperse "field heat".
