All 4 locations tested outside and in a controlled greenhouse.
Outside ~ 85% germination +/- 2sd. Inside almost 90% germination. (Iowa outside had poor germination do to increased precipitation.)
Taste test: 12 adults, 3 children. Overall review was "did not like the taste in comparison to other varieties tested.

This was my first year growing lettuce and am so glad I chose New Red Fire. It did excellent in both spring and so far this fall -- it did not become exceptionally bitter when the weather warmed up, and the fall crop is still growing strong even after a couple of frosts (as of 10/24, Zone 6a). Germination was nearly 100%, unlike some of the other (still delicious) varieties I planted in between. This will definitely be my main choice for lettuce from now on!
