3" size is perfect for growing larger seedlings like perennials, peppers, or plants sensitive to root disturbance, like cucumbers or lupines.
4" size is perfect for growing larger seedlings like perennials, tomatoes, or plants sensitive to root disturbance like squash or sunflowers.

I've used these recycled paper pots to start seedlings for years, with great success. Their absorbency makes it easy to water seedlings from the bottom and see how damp the soil is. They make transplanting to a larger size pot (especially tomatoes) and into the garden bed is so easy. Once I've transplanted, I tear the pots into small pieces and add them to my compost pile.

I always use your pots to plant my seeds in the Spring. I gave some to my daughter this year so she can start her own seeds.
