I was very disappointed with the germination rate from this packet. I planted all 25 seeds, and only 2 germinated. The two that sprouted are still just seedlings, so I can’t review the flowers yet, but a germination rate of only 8% is extremely poor.

i have ordered and also purchased in store many botanical interest seeds with much success, however like many others state these were just hard to grow… first round in spring i didnt see much germination but maybe the nights were a little too cold for their liking (7b grower) so a little further on i planted more and got a few more sprouts but in the long run eventually all of them ended up not making it. they seem super finicky in comparison to other cosmos (for reference i have 3 other kinds thriving that i planted at the same time) bummed, because these look gorgeous!

I planted these cosmos hoping to use them for my wedding, but they took forever to flower, and the flowers are so small and die within a day even with ideal conditions and daily watering. My other cosmo varieties are doing great. Absolutely not worth the garden space or effort.

Seeds barely sprouted only a total of 6 from the package. The 6 have remained very small.

I am so sorry your Xanthos Cosmos seeds had such poor germination! Since only 6 sprouted from the package and they've remained small, this sounds like there could be several factors at play. Cosmos seeds are usually reliable germinators, so this could be due to planting depth (they need light to germinate, so just barely cover them), soil temperature, or watering conditions. The small size of your seedlings might indicate they need more light or nutrients to get established.
