Sowing Info

When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 65°F, ideally 70°–85°F. Successive Sowings: Every 7 to 14 days up to 80 days before your average first fall frost date. NOTE: In very hot summer areas, skip sowing as high heat approaches; temperatures consistently above 90°F will prevent beans from forming.

When to Start Inside: Not recommended; bean seedlings are sensitive to root disturbance.

Days to Emerge: 6–12 days

Growing Info

Harvesting: Snap beans are ready to pick when the pod "snaps" or breaks in half cleanly. This is when the seeds have just begun to form and the pods are several inches long (depending on the variety). Hold the stem with one hand, and the pod with the other hand to avoid pulling off branches, which will continue to produce. At season's end, plants are great compost material if they are disease-free.

Because bush beans were developed from pole beans (for condensed and easier harvests), sometimes they can revert to some of the traits of their predecessors by stretching and getting a little lanky before settling into more of a compact bush habit. Thus, why your bush bean appears to be a pole bean.

I’m a sucker for smaller tender green beans without dealing with pesky strings. I love these beans. I’m south of Houston and we just had our first real cold snap. These were planted at the end of September and are still producing. I picked a ton right before. Not sure if they will survive the cold but they did quite well up until now. I will definitely be growing them again in Spring. Next to see how they do in Texas heat.

I LOVE Botanical Interests and these beans were no exception. This rating is strictly on the beans, not the company. I grew six varieties of beans and these were #5/6. They were average in growing production and were, as filet beans are, very slender and small. The taste was good, but we just enjoyed the other non-filet varieties better and had much better production on most other types. If you love filet beans, these were delicious.

I am a repeat grower of Ferrari Green Beans in my garden. They were excellent. Fast to germinate, very prolific and tender delicious beans. I had no pest problems with them at all. So growing them again this year was a no brainer.

Your service was very very fast and I love your emails and videos, they are very informative and I look forward to receiving them.

    Thank you!
