The English cucumber is longer (up to 18") and thinner than traditional cucumbers, with very small, soft seeds. 'Telegraph Improved' was developed in the 1800s for growing in greenhouses, but is now a favorite of home gardeners for the long, thin-skinned, burpless fruits that add a cool, mild flavor and a snappy crunch to salads and sandwiches. Cucumbers develop best when grown on a trellis and get regular moisture while fruits are forming.

Easy to grow and fast growing

This was my first time growing cucumbers, and as a person that enjoys a nice refreshing crunch to a summer salad and delicious homemade pickles this was a great choice. This specific cucumber is easy to grow and once it establishes a healthy root system will take off so make sure to have a gardeners pole to stake into the ground. The yield is moderate but that may too the cucumber plant competing for nutrients with other plants in my garden all in all I'm very pleased with the results.

    Hey Diego,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled that the Telegraph Improved Cucumber Seeds were such a great choice for your first time growing cucumbers - what a perfect variety to start with! It's wonderful to hear how easy they were to grow. Your tip about having a gardener's pole ready for staking is so helpful for other growers! And we love that you're enjoying them in both summer salads and homemade pickles - there's nothing quite like that fresh, crispy crunch from your own garden. Even with the competition from other plants, it sounds like you got a great harvest! Keep on growing 🌻️

The shelling peas I got from Botanical were amazing! They grow quite tall and abundant peas that are large and a great taste to them! My other peas have never done this well in same soil and location in the garden. Very pleased!

Incredibly prolific cucumbers. Will have enough pickles to last to the next growing season.
