A truly spectacular perennial! Each plant has multiple graceful spikes of blossoms in white, pink, deep rose, violet, and purple that attract butterflies. Fairly drought tolerant, fast growing, excellent in dry landscape gardens, or alone in mass plantings. Wonderful cut flowers; even dried stalks with seed pods add interest to dried arrangements.

I planted only some of the seeds and had a few blooms. This was the easiest of the seeds to bloom.

    Hey Judy B.,

Thank you so much for the 5-star review and for sharing your success with the Shades of Summer Verbascum! It's fantastic to hear that you got blooms from just planting some of the seeds - and that they were the easiest bloomers in your seed collection!

The best garden victories come from plants that just want to thrive and show off their beautiful blooms without making you work too hard for it!

I planted the seeds in January under LED lights so they would bloom this year. Germination was good and they are getting big. I planted them in deep pots as they put down a taproot. I will donate some plants to my garden clubs spring sale. They are supposed to be deer resistant, always a plus where I live.

I sowed these indoors January 8 under regular LED lights. Amazing germination rate and very vigorous seedlings. I love their healthy dark green foliage. I have potted them up once and can’t wait to harden them off to plant out in early March. (Texas)

Botanical Interests, can you recommend companion plants that work with the shape and size of this variety? I can’t find photos of them in a mixed border, only closeups of single specimens.

I was disappointed in these flowers. I planted some of the seeds and only a few started to sprout but then nothing.
