Already emerging 4 days after sowing

I sowed ~30 seeds, after soaking for several hours in warm water. I did try to score them, but the hull was just too hard so soaking only for me. It's only been four days, and already out of those 30, 11 have emerged (They are mass sown in an old lettuce container, over a heat mat and with a little LED grow light). These have a long germination so I'm sure more and more will pop up within the next two weeks, but so far I'm very happy with the germination rate and can't wait to direct sow the rest come late spring for a continuous harvest of the flowers (and seed save some pods for next year!)

    Hey C.K.,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts in a review. It's wonderful to hear about your success with the Blue Tea Butterfly Pea seeds! An 11 out of 30 germination rate in just four days is fantastic, especially considering these can take their time. Your technique with the warm water soak and setup with the heat mat and LED grow light sounds perfect. We love hearing about your plans for direct sowing and seed saving - that's the spirit of a true gardener! Thank you once again for your input. Keep on growing 🌻️

    Seed Germinating

A lot of people don't realize that you have to SCORE and SOAK the seeds to get the best germination rate. The outter pea shell on the seed is very tough and hard for seedlings to break through. Once scratched/scored the seed will need to be soaked at least overnight to 24 hours, if they do not swell after being soaked, try to score it a little more and soak again until its swelled up. Then plant as normal or do the paper towel method. Do not let them be too wet during germination after soaking or they will rot. Hope this helps. :) ~ A very obsessed butterfly pea vine grower.
