I love black-seeded simpson lettuce because it is such a reliable variety, hangs in there a long time under various weather conditions and tastes really great. Great germination even in challenging times!

Best Lettuce Ever

5 out of 5 stars Sep 17, 2020
I have been growing this particular lettuce for over 10 years. Sometimes it goes to seed, to give me second year volunteers. Added bonus. This lettuce is chartreuse in color, with thick soft stems (think poached potatoes) and the most delicious leaves ever. There is no better lettuce on a farm or in a store.

I have concluded that most of the year it is too to hot on Oahu for lettuce. My spring crop was OK. In the summer, the birds ate most of what did not die from the heat
