The tray, heating mat, and light upped my seed starting game so I had to get a second set to keep up with my growing ambitions. The only problem which is not really a problem, just not up to Epic standards: the black plastic ends of the telescoping light stand broke off the first time I tried to move Light #1. I thought maybe I was too rough with it or I over torqued screwing it in. But Light #2 just arrived and as I was screwing it into the base, one of them just snapped off. Fortunately, the telescoping feature allows for the one shorter. Obviously from reading reviews this is a product defect. It works fine WITHOUT the black plastic end pieces. I'll be happier when the second one breaks so they'll be even.

I really appreciate you bringing up the issue with the black plastic ends on the telescoping light stand breaking off. You're absolutely right that this isn't up to our Epic standards, and I can see from your review (and others) that this is definitely a product issue we need to address. It's frustrating when a product works so well in every other way but has that one recurring weak point.
Your sense of humor about waiting for the second one to break so they'll match made me chuckle, but honestly, you shouldn't have to deal with that at all! The fact that the lights still function perfectly without those end pieces is good, but it's not the quality experience we want our customers to have.

I wouldn't buy this again. It's cheaply made and easily broken where the light posts go into the tray. I've had to glue it twice! But, having said that, the plants love the light and are doing just fine as we wait for our last frost here in the Oregon rainforest.

worked great , simple setup , plants did great
one problem the extension wand did not screw into the tray easily in one instance and the plastic piece it screwed into broke . Could still easily use light but not as easily as if it was screwed in

A bit disappointed. The system was fine but the plastic pieces that connect the tray and light broke as soon as I tried to connect them. Kind of a bummer . I am not sure if I would buy this product again but I know other products are great and the tray and light themselves and sturdy and good.

I had begun to start seeds for myself, but had mixed results. It was pretty evident that I needed a grow light if I was going to get better seedlings. However, going down the rabbit hole of what kinds of fixtures and bulbs and what sort stands I needed was overwhelming. High end systems that haven everything by included exist, but are very expensive for someone just getting started. Other less expensive set ups seem to be pretty crappy. A DIY set up is way more involved than I’m ready for. This set up has the quality, affordability, and comprehensiveness that I needed and it has been a great improvement to my seed starting set up. I could see wanting to expend beyond this down the line, but I don’t think I will ever really need to unless my veggie garden expends significantly. This is an effective, approachable, and cost effective (especially if you get on sale) grow light set up.
