Sugar Daddy' peas were bred by Dr. Calvin Lamborn, the innovative research director that developed the first edible-podded snap pea, 'Sugar Snap'. However, 'Sugar Daddy' has some big improvements—stringless pods, shorter vines, and improved disease resistance. Slender, 3" pods have a deep green color adding to their appeal. The short plants reach only 24"-30" tall and don't need support; a short fence or trellis will make it easier to find and harvest the crunchy peas, though. Pods can be served fresh by themselves or with dip, or added to give crunch to salads. Add to stir-fries and soups or steam for a delicious vegetable. Resistant to powdery mildew and tolerant to bean leaf roll virus.

MILES better than the competitor - almost 100% germination!

I bought this variety from a competing brand at Lowe's to try but had very poor germination, so I decided to get the same variety from Botanical Interests and grow it alongside the competing brand under the same conditions. Botanical Interests's germination rate was almost 100%! I planted them out, and even though I was extremely late in the season, I still got amazing results and production until the powdery mildew descended in late spring (zone 9b FL). I am about to order again for fall/winter of 2025-2026.

This was all the proof I needed, and now Botanical Interests is the main seed company I use for most of my garden.

    Hey Hannah,

What an incredible review! This is exactly the kind of real-world comparison that we love to hear about, and we're absolutely thrilled that our Sugar Daddy Snap Pea Seeds delivered such outstanding results for you!

That almost 100% germination rate compared to your previous experience really shows the difference that quality seed makes. We put so much care into our seed sourcing and testing, and it's amazing to hear that you could see such a clear difference when growing them side by side under the same conditions. Your late-season planting still producing amazingly until powdery mildew hit is just fantastic - that's exactly the kind of performance you should expect from Sugar Daddy peas!

We're so honored that this experience has made Botanical Interests your go-to seed company! That means absolutely everything to us. Your methodical approach to testing really demonstrates what dedicated gardeners like yourself deserve - seeds that perform consistently and reliably.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and helpful comparison. Other gardeners will really benefit from hearing about your experience, and we can't wait to help you with another successful fall/winter growing season!

    Keep on growing 🌻️

Wish me luck… I live in Las Vegas, 9A.

In November I direct sowed a large packet of Sugar Snap Snap Peas in a 15 gallon pot! Just sprinkled them all over… so far, they’ve germinated well. I want to thin them out, but I think I’m going to let it ride just to see how they do. I heard peas do well in a crowd, so I’ll get to see first hand. In a few months I’ll update with more pictures to show the progress.
