| Growing & Harvesting | Harvest when the squash's rind is hard enough that you can't dent it with your fingernail and before first frost. Though fruits are hard and may seem indestructible, treat them gently; bruising can spoil squash. |

I live in an area where squash vine borers can be problematic. Learned the hard way that Curcubita moschata are the only vines to grow here. As a tip. Any idea what this one is? it worked one year but I thought Id try again.

Seriously, these things were everywhere and huge!! Great flavor and I have used in soups and sauces. Mild, sweet flavor. Meat is more wet and softer than a starchy squash like acorn. More suited to pie or soup. Excellent flavor and like I said, these got huge. The picture shows the pink banana on the right and center (!) is probably a 20# specimen.
