Blackberry Lily Seeds

Iris domestica

This "lily" is actually a member of the iris family! "Iris" honors the Greek goddess of the rainbow, and these flowers add a perfect pop of color! Crimson-red spots cover the mostly orange petals, and fanned-out leaves and tall, clean stems make them ideal cut flowers. The seedheads split to reveal the namesake blackberry-like seedheads that also look lovely in in autumnal arrangements. Blackberry lilies are tough, drought-tolerant, and attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. Perennial in USDA zones 5 to 10.

I live in Zone 5 and this iris/lily took 2 seasons to bloom but is totally worth it! The flowers are delicate but colorful and bloom over a long period if the seed pods are removed.

What drew me in was the description mentioning a goddess. I purely buy seeds that have lively descriptions. I go out of my way to buy plants that harken to goddesses, and this plant fit the bill perfectly. Thanks so much Botanical Interests and Epic Gardening for such a beautiful inspired plant! Keep up the good work, and I would love to see more goddess inspired plants that swing that way!

I love your seeds - I could get them at Ace Hardware but you have more selection on line - I just wish you would do something about your shipping charges - it would be great if you lowered the purchase amount for free shipping

I picked up a package of seeds from the feed store and started my Blackberry Lilies last summer. I wasn’t expecting them to flower this year but was pleasantly surprised when they flowered abundantly. The orange-red petals are stunningly vibrant. I love them so much that I ordered another pack online.
