Direct Sow RECOMMENDED. 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, when soil temperature is 65°–75°F.
Special Sowing When seedlings have 3 to 4 sets of leaves, clip off the top set just above the leaves below. This "pinching" promotes branching, which means more flowers. Amaranth can reseed. If reseeding is not desired, remove flower heads before they set seed.

    Didn't have any success with the coral amaranth - tried direct sowing as well as transplanting. The ones that were direct sowed never geminated. Those I transplanted just kinda died back. Odd, as my red Garnet amaranth (seed is a few years old) is growing fine. Bummed!
