Thinning When 1" tall, thin to 1 every 12"–18"
Germination 10 – 25 days
Start Indoors Recommended for cold climates: 2 to 4 weeks before average last frost. Roots sensitive to disturbance; sow into biodegradable pots that can be directly planted in the ground.
Direct Sow 2 to 4 weeks after average last frost, and when soil temperature is above 60°F.
Growing & Harvesting Hard-shelled gourds should remain in the garden as long as there is any life left in the vines. Some gourd growers leave gourds in the garden during the winter, which adds to their characteristics for craft projects. Use a sharp knife or pruners to cut stem leading to gourd, leaving 1"–3" of stem for a handle.

    Amazing

I bought these and have continued to use the same packet because of how prolific and well they grow. I was even able to get a years worth of dish sponges out of one growing season where I only planted 4 plants. Will always recommend these

    Bummed

I grew with these last year and they turned out amazing so I thought I would grow some again here in Sisters, Oregon. We have a very short growing season so you have to start these indoors, however out of everything I had under my lights these were the only things that didn’t germinate. Not one.

I still have some sponges from last year that we use in the shower, dishes, the dog, etc… They are very versatile and they look gorgeous covering a walkway.

I am really really sad that I don’t have any this year knowing what I learned from last year.

    All seeds propagated

Too early to review on success of plant but all seeds that were started have produced small plants.

Hardening off for the garden now.

    Insane

I planted 2 seeds in just standard bagged soil and had the longest luffa vines I ever grew. Lasted till October and got about 9 large luffas to use as sponges and a few more that I ate.
