Peppermint Stick Zinnia Seeds

Zinnia elegans

What a fun flower to grow! 2"–4" striped and speckled blooms in cheery colors are delightful in the garden, and tabletop arrangements. No two are alike! Easy to grow, heat-loving plants supply beauty and interest to your flowerbeds, containers, and borders until fall frost. Each individual flower lasts a very long time on the plant and in the vase. Zinnias are edible, but have little flavor. The colorful flowers can make a pretty garnish to salads, desserts, cold drinks, or serving trays. (The flower's central disk, while edible, can be bitter.)

    Zinnias

This was my first year gardening. I had one planter box of zinnias where I used a combo of peppermint sticks and California giants. Turned out beautiful!

    Mixed results.

The first year I was very pleased with mostly striped zinnias with only a few solids (to be expected). This year I bought the seeds via Whole Foods instead of directly from the website and I had only solids. I don’t know if my purchase location matters but thought I’d mention it.
