    Outstanding!

Really easy to start from seed. Two plants survived winter in zone 6a or reseeded. Continous and heavy blooming till fall.

    Beautiful blooms

My rose mallows started blooming a week ago and they are lovely! Their growth increased exponentially once transplanted in large pots outside. Currently, they are about 3 1/2 feet high. I started them from seed about Feb/Mar. I started 3 peat pots and I think it was near 100% germination. I will definitely grow these again. Zone 8b, southwestern Washington state.

    Always good.

    Germinates at what seems 100%.

I cast the 5 seeds into a 12”x12” foot of dirt that I dug up, fertilized and then raked with my fingers. Then I put some compost dirt on top of the seeds, like a 1/4” deep, watered them using the mist setting.

I kept the foot of dirt wet for several days. Then they got watered by me and my hose whenever I could.

It climbs up whatever garden structure I put it near.

Now the first time I used these seeds, and I have bought 5 or 6 seed packets of these, it was a crazy disaster. I used no restraint. I put all the seeds in my hand and threw them onto the 8’x30’ area with such wonderful “chaos” gardening. I felt like I had arrived. But I didn’t prepare the ground. In several years of this, I learned that without watering them, they will not grow. Those days when I was still trying to cast a pack of seeds, I learned about dirt and soil, and plants that climb and plants the hang, and more. I guess I still don’t read the packet. I just learn a lot every year.

These are beautiful flowers, and they don’t disappoint. Just make friends with one or two plants every year. I’m a good gardener now, measured by how hard I work, and plants I grow. By the happiness I feel when I walk under my pink mallow trellis.
