    Mold every year

Each year we used these, mold started to take over the soil and the containers. I figured it was operator error until this year and side by side since we were on our last box of the middle size, we did these and some plastic pots. Only one side once again went moldy, the paper pots. They are a fantastic idea, and the features they thought of are great. Maybe I got a bad batch? But I won't be chancing it next year.

    Hey Patrick,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and share your feedback. We always want our gardening community to have the best possible experience, so we appreciate you bringing this to our attention!

It is actually quite common for biodegradable cardboard pots to develop a bit of surface mold, but when it only happens on one single side, it is almost always a sign of a localized airflow issue. Because cardboard naturally absorbs and holds moisture from the soil, it relies on steady surrounding air circulation to dry out evenly between waterings. If a pot is pushed directly up against a wall, a window sill, another plant tray, or sits in a stagnant corner, that hidden side traps moisture. Without enough air flowing around it, that one specific side creates the perfect, damp microclimate for harmless surface mold spores to wake up.

A great way to prevent this going forward is to ensure there is a small gap of space all the way around each pot, or to give the pots a gentle quarter-turn every few days so all sides get equal exposure to fresh air.

Thank you again for your review, and please let us know if you have any other questions about your setup. Keep on growing 🌻️

Love these plastic-free planters for repotting seedlings

Please provide these in larger quantities (like packs of 20). It seems a waste to have only a few in each box.

    Hard to water effectively.

Hard to work with but easy to store. How do you keep these things watered when the paper immediately threatens to fall apart?

Perfect biodegradable pots. They are a large size so the root systems do not get destroyed when transplanting. I really like these for larger flower varieties and melons.
