Red Sails Leaf Lettuce Seeds

Lactuca sativa

A favorite to use as baby greens, 'Red Sails' is ready to harvest after just 2 or 3 weeks and grows to a full head in just over 6 weeks. Very heat tolerant, the soft buttery leaves will grow well into warm weather without getting bitter. Contains more vitamins A and C than grocery-store lettuce! Attractive container variety, too. Great surprise

I went to prep my neglected beds for spring planting and there was a full row of beautiful large red green leafed lettuce. Very impressed and will plant again. 8A in a raised bed and only natural water after first few weeks. It was under frost cover cloth.

Red Sails leaf lettuce is an impressive grower

I am in Zone 9b and direct sowed red sails in early Feb. I will pick for my first salad this week. It had nearly 100% sprout and has grown quickly. It is strongly outperforming Giant Caesar romaine which was similarly planted. I will buy this again next year.

    Bomb proof

From raised beds to containers to crummy hillside soil, this variety has produced time after time. We've had a mild winter (no snow), and I still have heads growing in raised beds under frost cloth. It tastes great and lasts well in the fridge.
