White Swan Echinacea Seeds

Echinacea purpurea

White Swan' is the perfect name for this graceful echinacea, a natural selection from white-flowered variations of the native, purple echinacea. Its flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators, while birds enjoy the seeds. The cone-like seed heads also add a nice architectural touch to the winter garden. A long-lasting cut flower, it adds a sparkle of white to floral arrangements.

    3 Stars For Germination

I’ve never left a review before on a seeds. However, I’ve bought and planted a lot of seeds on this site. I’m leaving a review on this one just because of my experience which I hope will help people thinking about buying these.

First, I would probably give this 3.5 stars if that was an option. I’ve bought two packages of these seeds and so far I’ve only gotten one to go to flower.

I like a challenge so I tried different things. But overall out of 90 seeds only one has been productive so I feel like three stars is a just review.

Also, the instructions on the packet I feel like could be updated for better results

Now that the bad part is out of the way, let’s get to the good part…

The first packet I bought, I planted them like I do my normal echinacea seeds. I probably got 20% germination and all the seedlings died before getting a single true leaf.

On my second packet, I did a little more research and I decided to stratify those seeds. I also got the Paradiso blend (which I hope the write of review on as well). Because you get so few seats in the Paradiso and Alan pride blend I decided to stratified the seeds and plant one in a single cell. I got almost 100% germination.

So I stratified the white swan echinacea, and I got almost 100% in germination.

I still had trouble getting the seedlings to the point where they didn’t die out before getting their true leaves.

    That part is really tough.

So of the last 6-cell tray I planted this is the only flower that produced…

    Poor Germination

I sowed the entire packet of seeds and had only 5 germinate. Very disappointing I was looking forward to adding these to my garden this year and share with friends and family.
